Overly Tired Drivers and Automobile Accidents

The Tabor Law Firm concentrates on representing victims of life changing automobile, trucking and motorcycle accidents. An AAA study released in 2008 showed that more than sixteen percent of automobile accidents resulting in wrongful deaths, were caused by overly tired drivers. The study also found that 1 in 8 car accidents where someone went to the hospital involved a drowsy driver.

The AAA study evaluated crash data over a 10 year period ending in 2008. According to medical professionals, overly tired drivers and those not drifting asleep have impaired judgment and memory difficulties, which causes greater driver distraction.

The National Sleep Foundation reported that 58 percent of Americans admitted to driving while drowsy. Many experts have compared driving while drowsy to driving under the influence of alcohol.

At Tabor Law, we know that it is unlikely that every driver will stop driving while overly tired, but applaud those making an effort to address the problem of overly tired drivers. If you have been seriously injured in an accident involving a drowsy driver, contact Tabor Law. Our experienced attorneys will provide free consultation and investigate your claim to seek any compensation you are entitled.
